I noticed after a while of using these routines they are not very well error trapped for a software package such as this. In any case it does provide many nice CAD routines all the same.

I was planning on writing my own and thought this would give me an idea as to how to lay it out. I know for sure to avoid the things I do not like about it, But for free you cannot go wrong.

Just a bit more insight about Compress.

This is a design tool specifically for designing the complete pressure vessel. This program provides all the specifics of the welding, pressure, nozzle location calcs. You can use these calcs when a National Board Member arrives to do his/her inspection.

The program will make a *.dpf file to be used for CAD. In the drafter menu you will find VDP Start which will take this file and make several ACAD drawings in one CAD file. Your vessel drawing would be 75-90% completed for you. The drafter option provides basic CAD tools to be used to finish off your vessel. The drafter option provides two samples for you to test this feature.

This software is a real pleasure to use if you are a Hard Core ASME shop. As I previously mentioned you do not need the Codeware Compress software if all you want are some routines to do some piping tasks for you. If you look at the menu images I provided in post 17, You will see what is available for your use with the Drafter Option alone.

The attached image below shows the Compress Design Software.

The image at the bottom show the drawings the can be created automatically from the Compress Design file in ACAD.
