Publish In 2009LT

I just discovered "Publish" in 2009LT and would like to know if there's a way to select a certain printer or plotter in the Publish window. I spent some time this morning printing out 10 prints of 3 different drawings by selecting plot 30 times. Hence the adveture in Publish. I tried it in one of the 3 drawings and I guess it just made the default printer the one I already sent it to.

When I use publish for things like that I publish the drawings to a DWF file once, then open the DWF using Design Review and send 'N' copies of the DWF to whatever plot device I select.

 

The print dialog box has a place to select the number of copies to send.

 

Design review is a free download from AutoDesk so anyone can use it, LT or full vesion.

You certainly can, but you need to create at least one Page Setup. For now just right click on a layout tab in a drawing that will be part of the publish, pick pagesetup, go through and give a new one a name, pick the plotter, paper size, all the other parameters you use.

 

Now when you publish there is a page setup pull down to the right of the sheet name. If you pick all the sheets and then use the pull down you will assign all sheets to that pagesetup.

 

Now if you are going to publish this same set of drawings more than once use the save icon at the top center and save in a location and a name that makes sense to you. Next time you need to publish these same drawings simply load that file with the open icon left of the save icon.

 

Further down is the number of copies setting.

 

Now lets say you need to send the same sheets to two different plotters, with two page setups already made you can set the sheets for the first page setup, then select all the sheets in the list, right click, copy, now select the copies and pick the second page setup.

 

Now that you see how this works, you will want to go to your template and define all the pagesetups you might need and add to the template as you add more. You can use the import choice under page setups to navigate to your template drawing, or where ever you decide to store page setups.

Well, it took some doing, but I got it. I guess after you've done it a few times it gets easier. I'll certainly keep this info in my notes.
