ReMark
I do not see STP or IGES files listed in my version (2009) of AutoCAD. What I do see is WMF, SAT, 3DS and DGN listed. Perhaps you need to use some other program as a go-between. Inventor?

Coosbaylumber
I once had a friend who worked for Grumann aviation of Long Island. He would send me a file via E:mail, I was to expand it, then convert it into some version of Acad, and send on to another. Had to use the IGES-in comamnd quite often, as the Grumann software did not have any DXF-out at the time. The IGES file used to look like a single vertical line when it came in. This was misleading, for it came in as an X, Y, Z, fine and as all work had no Z component, it looked that way. Via Autocad, I rotated the file 90 degrees and there was everything then. Wm. ReMark
The following was taken from the Technology Bulletin, e-vol 59, September, 2007 as written by Mark Lautenbach, Solutions Engineer-MCAD, Hagerman & Company regarding AutoDesk Inventor Suite 2008: "Inventor users everywhere have always had one thing in common. It has been difficult to use 3D models that come from a source other than Inventor. Sure, Inventor has been able to import IGES files. Inventor has even been able to use STEP files. STEP files have been the recommendation for quite a while as they typically have more consistent solids translation." Do you know anyone who uses Inventor? Are you a student? Students can download Inventor for free I believe.

Tankman
Thank You I Downloaded Inventor And Will Give It A Try. Let us know how it works out for you. I grew up next to Grumman on Long Island. A fun place to grow up. As a teen, I worked part time summers for Grumman. A great place to work.
