profdrift Posted August 30, 2009 Posted August 30, 2009 I'm trying to model a part of a power press. I'm not sure but i think its called the pitman screw ball joint. It consists of a cylinder with external threading and a spherical ball attached below the cylinder's base. Or just imagine a large bolt with a spherical head instead of a hexagonal one. My problem is that I'm not able to fillet the joint of the sphere to the cylinder. I'm just a beginner in 3D. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance Quote
ReMark Posted August 30, 2009 Posted August 30, 2009 A cylinder with a ball mounted to it? I might have approached it a slightly different way using a profile of the objects and the Revolve command. Quote
ReMark Posted August 30, 2009 Posted August 30, 2009 Is this something along the lines of what you were trying to do? Quote
Patrick Hughes Posted August 30, 2009 Posted August 30, 2009 A cylinder with a ball mounted to it? I might have approached it a slightly different way using a profile of the objects and the Revolve command. This is a good suggestion. Another option is to do as you'e already approached it but after creating the shank and the sphere simply union the two together, then perform the fillet command on the interface. Quote
profdrift Posted September 1, 2009 Author Posted September 1, 2009 Yep, I got the answer..... I modeled the view in 2D, trimmed one half and revolved it along the center line. Thanks a ton for your help!!! Quote
