Hello fellow CAD users.

I am about to start an adventurious task of learning how to create sheet sets in AutoCAD 2009 (Is 2010 different?) and from the post I have read and tutorials I have done, I am just not getting how to make Sheet Sets work to our advantage. Here is some of what I am wanting to accomplish for my end product:

My concerns from what I have read are that it seems that each unit requires its own drawing as opposed to doing all items in model space and using layouts to present it.

SSM works great for a lot of XREF's in my honest opinion. It allows you to control the drawings much more efficiently without bulking up a huge amount of XREF's in one parent drawing.

yes the tutorials say to use one dwg file per layout, i have done it with multiple layouts on one dwg and havent had any problems, maybe i didnt go far enough with it but as far as i could tell it doesnt make a difference

I got a tutorial from Lynda.com on Annotation and decided to use FIELDS instead of sheet sets. By using DWGPROPS and creating custom fields, it solved my problem perfectly.

Also, thanks to the infinite knowledge of CADTutor, I was even able to take care of the Layout Page number being referenced (System Variable->ctab).

I gotta tell ya...I love customizing AutoCAD! :D
