cr08 Posted October 3, 2009 Posted October 3, 2009 Hi there. Found this forum and hoped to get some more experienced help with Autocad usage. Used it a while back but unfortunately all my knowledge has went out the window so I am starting back over from square one. Anyways, I have AutoCAD Mechanical 2006 here and am getting stuck on trying to do a simple revolve command on a polyline. Problem is I do not want it revolved in a perfect circle but more in an ellipse shape of my choosing. I attempted to tell the revolve command to do so around an ellipse I drew with the centerline being aligned on the axis for the polyline to be revolved but it would not take. Any ideas what I could do here? Quote
ReMark Posted October 3, 2009 Posted October 3, 2009 I took a slightly different approach by using the EXTRUDE command. I did it for one-half of an ellipse then mirrored it. This is the result. Would this approach be acceptable to you? Quote

You cannot create irregular shaped objects with Revolve. Using 2006, you will need to Extrude along a path as in ReMark's example. Quote
