Hello,

I am familiar with 3d cad systems such as solid works and familiar with autocad 2d. As i am teaching myself autocad 3d i am running into problems. I am drawing a simple boat. I drew the deck in the x-y plane. I then drew a rectangle below boat in the x-y plane but 10 units in the -z direction (10' below deck). Now I am trying to make an arc from the rectangle below the deck to the bow of the deck but the arc seems to only want to work in the x-y plane. How can I get the arc to go from (x,y,z) to another (x,y,z) coordinate. Again, new to 3d.

Also,

How can i show a picture of it on these threads. I tried to screenshot it and then attach it and it said resolution was too big and cant figure out how to change it. I opened it in paint, and saved it in my pictures. when i attached it i chose the my pictures file.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

thanks

a line worked but not a curve

well Acads modeling environment is very different than Solidworks. Which Acad are you using? 09? 2010?

The trick is to align the ucs. You can use the UCS command and rotate it or many other options for aligning it. In this case i would locate the origin at the center point of the end of your box, align X with the line of the box, then y i would click on what will be the midpoint of your arc.

i figured something out that worked perfectly. instead of drawing curves off the box draw another smaller boat 10 units under the deck and lose loft command. that was myt intention from the get go. thanks though
