I've search for this solution but no luck so far.

My Problem:

If you move attributes around inside a block, you have to synchronize the block afterwards for it to reflect the changes... now I need the other way around, because a LT user went and shuffle the attributes around for him to make it easier to edit the tags or something. Now I can't sync as the attributes are already on the correct positions otherwise if I do sync all the attributes will jump all over the place.

How can I (inside the block) restore the attributes where it was originally placed instead of moving every single attribute one-by-one back? (It's almost like a invert version of attsync)

Hope my question make sense and that someone can help me before a do something illegal to a few CAD users.

Thanx::glare:

I'm not sure if I fully understand what you are asking.

Do these blocks only reside in the one drawing or do you have them stored elsewhere? If stored elsewhere you can insert them from there and acept the redefine. If they aren't files of their own they can be pulled from another drawing using Design Centre.

Failing that I think you will have to BEDIT the block, moving the attributes to the position you want. That will then be the default position which you can then sync the other blocks from.

yes thought it might be confusing. See the attached drawing. Edit the block in place (refedit) you you might see what I mean. I want them all back to the background positions if I can call it that. Each drawing is on it's own and unique , no external blocks so I can redefine it.

But yes it looks like I have to manually move them all back. Hoping for a command for this, although I don't think it's a very popular problem.

I'm at home now so can't see your drawing until Monday. If I remember I'll look then.

OK, see what you mean.

As nobody else has come along with tidier suggestions I think I would bite the bullet and WBLOCK it to an external file. Move the attributes back to where they belong in that file then INSERT the good block back into the effected drawings, ending with an ATTSYNC and a slapped wrist.

Incidentally, it is NOT a good idea to use the same TAG more than once in an attributed block. It makes life very difficult if you want to do any programmatic changes and I have seen dynamic blocks get horribly confused.

Thanx for your input.

Agree with what you say about using the same tag more than once. Unfortunately there is millions of drawings done this way already by someone so I'm leaving it just as is.

Any new projects / drawings I have already changed by using fields instead and linked to the custom Properties.
