rengised Posted December 1, 2009 Posted December 1, 2009 Hi everyone, how to import cad file to sketchup? There is no dwg on files type. Attached the image. Pls help Quote
ReMark Posted December 1, 2009 Posted December 1, 2009 There must be an IMPORT command right? Looking at the above it appears you are trying to OPEN the file not IMPORT the file. There is a difference. Yeah, I just checked. Under FILE select IMPORT. Acad files can be imported in dwg or dxf format. Quote
rengised Posted December 1, 2009 Author Posted December 1, 2009 Thanks for the quick reply ReMark, Very much appreciate it.Yeah I select the File, import command but it appers open, I dont know why. Any other way? Quote
ReMark Posted December 1, 2009 Posted December 1, 2009 Well my version of Sketchup, under Files of Type lists ACAD Files (*.dwg, *.dxf). Not sure why your copy doesn't show the same. What version are you running? Freebie or Pro? I'm running Pro version 6.4.112. Quote
rengised Posted December 1, 2009 Author Posted December 1, 2009 its freebie ReMark. Any Solutions? Thanks Quote
ReMark Posted December 1, 2009 Posted December 1, 2009 its freebie ReMark. Any Solutions? Thanks Find a file format that AutoCAD will export to that is on the list freebie Sketchup will allow you to import. JPG might be one. There's probably one or two more. Quote
f700es Posted December 1, 2009 Posted December 1, 2009 Going forward in Google SU only the Pro version will import .dwg/.dxfs. There is an add-on for this but you better get while they still offer it. http://sketchup.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=161784 Good luck Quote

f700es Posted December 3, 2009 Posted December 3, 2009 I live in Eden and work in Greensboro. I see we are not far apart. Nope not too far. Did a nurse station for a nursing home in Eden a few years ago. Pretty town. Quote
Sparky Posted December 3, 2009 Posted December 3, 2009 Don't blink when you go through, you might miss it. Which nursing home? Quote
f700es Posted December 3, 2009 Posted December 3, 2009 Can't remember, it was a few years ago. I came from W-S and crossed the rivers and went sort of North West. It was not very large. It was in the fall and the leaves were turning, very nice little drive for me Quote
