Help with analysis of part in COSMOS and floworks

I'm doing this project where we need to do some flow analysis of a tank with a recirculation system. Basically its a tank, with an impeller at one end which is supposed to recirculate the liquid.

Does anyone know where I can go to do this analysis or can someone help me?

Basically, the tank surface is open to the atmosphere, and then at one end there's the impeller which takes in the liquid, and then from the side of the impeller there are 2 outlets which then take the liquid thro 2 pipes to the other end of the tank. What we need is an analysis to see the fluid flow, recirculation and other factors.

Can anyone help me with this?or even point me in the right direction?

Do you have the full version of Cosmos FlowWorks(not flowXpress)

I have the educational version of solidworks and that has COSMOS floworks and flowxpress. but im wondering whether there are some limitations on functionality.

i mgiht reinstall my other version on SW which i hope and think has COSMOS full version with floworks.

where do i go from there?

Well ive never used the full version of FlowWorks but it is my understanding that it will handle this. You will have to set up all the boundary conditions, fluid volume and so on. Im not sure about your question "where do you go". Go to Tools>FlowWorks and follow the instructions and answer questions it asks you. Since I havent used this i cant walk you through the steps because I do not know what they are. I do know FlowExpress will not handle this. If you have FlowWorks educational or not they are the same, this is what you would use.

Are you trying to figure out if your impeller will flow a certain amount, or if the routing is okay?

i want to see the flow characteristics in the tank.

does floworks accept 2 outlets and a wide inlet?also, how do you model something like a tank/closed system?

I tried analysing only the part of the tank with the impeller, and when i got to making the lids, i got some error mentioning something about the solid and liquid region...going through the forums, its quite a common error everyone gets

im not sure since ive never used flowWorks before.

In flowXpress it only allows 1 inlet and 1 outlet. So you not be able to analyze flow in your tank setting with Xpress but you could analyze the flow through the pipe back to the tank. You could potentially fool the system by creating the tank with 1 inlet and 1 outlet but your results are going to be less accurate. Since you have flowWorks you should have some help documentation on it. Have you been through this?

if one has and older version of cosmosFloWorks (sp 0), will it work on Solidworks sp5?

I dont know. SW 08 was the last version they used Cosmos. Im not sure how the add-ins work for older versions. I would guess no but its only a guess.
