coriolano2 Posted January 19, 2010 Posted January 19, 2010 I am plotting a site plan a consultant gave us. It was drawn in meters. Units are decimal and meters. In paperspace I created a layout that is 30"x42" and a viewport that is 1:50. The scale doesn't look right, the plan is too small. Can someone help walk me through how to lay out the the plot dialogue box in auto cad and set up my paperspace (and check settings in units, etc.? could that be the problem)? Thank you! Quote
edwinprakoso Posted January 20, 2010 Posted January 20, 2010 Maybe this can help? http://www.cad-notes.com/2009/08/5-steps-preparing-your-autocad-plot.html Quote
BIGAL Posted January 20, 2010 Posted January 20, 2010 Ok do it everyday! This is for a drawing in metres remember mm is 1000 = 1m Have you a title block in paper space at a 1;1 scale in MM 30X42 =762x1066 an A0 is 841x1189 our A1 sheet title block is 801x554 and we plot at a scale of 1:1 If no title block create your viewport with the correct metric size. Just make a viewport inside the title block zoom extents as a start if you have the vports toolbar "on" the liitle box will tell you what scale your at zoom around a bit and jump between paperspace and the viewport and the scale number will change you can enter a scale via the toolbar referring to the scale number. Ok in metres its easy divide 1000 / your scale say 1:50 this will give you 20 so set box to 20 1:200 = 5 1:100 =10 1:500 =2 its quick and easy. I just did one and it said 13.442 so I would set it to either 10 or 20 it will auto change to show 1:100 etc. The same applies if the darwing is in mm Quote
krautfed Posted January 20, 2010 Posted January 20, 2010 edwinprasko provided a great link. A common mistake I see is not setting the Plot Scale to "mm" and leaving it "inches". You can see here at the bottom in the Plot Scale box, settings are 1:1 which makes the 2nd and 4th box "1" and "1" but the units MUST be set to "mm" for metric (in the 3rd box). Quote
