We have AutoDesk 2007, but only using the 2-D abilities, yes, i know, but not my fault. We are working on a set of drawings from another larger firm. It is a huge hospital file. Cannot get the sheets to plot. They will not plot the viewport views or even the objects on paperspace. Wierd. Yes, we are all at least 15 year veterans at AutoCAD and we have been all over the layer stuff, model to paperspace. We think it has to be a system variable or some kind of setting to do with "project" or something?

Have a sheet with a floor plan x-reffed into the file in model space. Then we have zoomed in viewports in paperspace to show enlarged portions of the floor plan. Another x-ref has simple 2-D interior elevations and it is in model space.

Any ideas? Been browsing help in AutoCAD, lots of variable, tried a few with no results.

Thanks for any help!

I would never in my life use AutoCAD (I assume that is what you have, is it anohter Autodesk-product?) 2007 for 3D-work - I hesitate at using 2010 for 3D-work!

But, to you problem. Have you tried different printers? PDF/Paper? Usually when I get this problem, its because the printer runs out of memory and can't process the files.

Hello,

Just to let you know, a resolve was found. The files had many circular referenced x-refs throughout. When you had hit preview, you didn't see all those objects. Even the xrefs had xrefs within them. Detached those too.

Solution:

Purge and audit all the xrefs, each one and kill all unused blocks too. Then detached and reattached the xrefs in the sheets. Then it all worked. It may have been a memory thing who knows.

So, we are up and running again on those. Thought I would come back and share, in case anyone else runs into this.

Have a great day!:D

Gotta agree with that comment, I used 3D max 8 & now 9 for 3D work, and when we bought ACAD I thought I should use that now and that way I would have the same prog for work and hobby, Wow! was I wrong, CAD just doesn't cut it for 3D work.

Dottie: Great that you posted back with your fix, mabe not today but we (our sale team) often get dodgy dwgs for clients that they want printed, some can be a real pain. That snippet may come in handy. :D
