arshavin23 Posted March 21, 2010 Posted March 21, 2010 Hi all, currently working on a project for college where ive came up with this design idea and was wondering what your thoughts were on it, do you think this design would have use in the sports industry, any answers much appreciated:) S I will design a vehicle that can be used to transport injured sports players off the field of play to receive medical attention. An operator is required to drive the vehicle; it will be of small size so it can access most areas around sports grounds. It will be electrically powered, this will reduce energy consumption, pollutants and noise which is beneficial to sports grounds. The vehicle will have four wheels and its tyres must be suitable on grass and concrete surfaces preventing any damage to the pitch. The vehicle will have a lifting device for a stretcher to be safely attached and removed allowing the safe unloading and loading of sportsmen. The material of the vehicle body will be suitable for all weather conditions and will have a minimum of two seats which will also be of a suitable material for all weather conditions. Quote
MikeScott Posted March 21, 2010 Posted March 21, 2010 I helped work on one for the military. Remote and manually controlled, for combatant retrieval. I'd suggest large "bouncy tires", and a strether with inflatable compartments, enabling medical personnel to either use it like a flatboard, or inflated for comfort, or for movement isolation, as needed. I'd also suggest a full med kit attached, with everything you'd need for "the usual medical issues" based on statistics for medical responces at that location. The driver should be medically trained in the appropriate proceedures. Though it seems to be that there's typically an ambulance on scene at most games, and "ruining the field" is a secondary concern to saving someone's life. Quote
arshavin23 Posted March 21, 2010 Author Posted March 21, 2010 thanks for the quick replys:) advice much appreciated too mikescott... do you think these vehicles are needed in the sports industry? Quote
Tankman Posted March 21, 2010 Posted March 21, 2010 thanks for the quick replys:) advice much appreciated too mikescott... do you think these vehicles are needed in the sports industry? Or perhaps a "mule" would be a bit more sportsman like! I drove one many times while a Jarhead, fun, go places, note the four wheel steering too! Good in tight surroundings. While the engine is gas powered, I'm sure an electric, i.e.: golf cart, powered trans could be used. A second seat is available. Tiedowns for a stretcher could be added. Quote
kencaz Posted March 21, 2010 Posted March 21, 2010 do you think these vehicles are needed in the sports industry? When I got hurt, My Dad always said: "Walk It Off!" So to him your project is null and void... KC Quote

kencaz Posted March 21, 2010 Posted March 21, 2010 Is your dad Chuck Norris? Chuck would have been a walk in the park... I like the "Corridors" design on your site BTW... KC Quote
Cad64 Posted March 22, 2010 Posted March 22, 2010 I like the "Corridors" design on your site BTW... Thanks Ken Arshavin, I agree with what MikeScott said previously. There is usually an ambulance at these sporting events in case anything bad happens, and tearing up the field is of little concern when someone's life is in danger. So a vehicle like what you're proposing is probably not really something that is needed. But that shouldn't stop you from trying to build a better mouse trap. Quote
MikeScott Posted March 22, 2010 Posted March 22, 2010 thanks for the quick replys:) advice much appreciated too mikescott... do you think these vehicles are needed in the sports industry? Well, per the picture Cad gave, they already exist and are used. If you hit a market in a country/area that doesn't already have them, I can see where they'd sell (with competition from the group already providing them elsewhere). Needed? I don't have the stats for that. Do folks die missing treatment they would otherwise receive? If so, then yes. As I said though, most venues where that's a problem, would have an ambulance that can drive onto the field. An ambulance would be superior in terms of being a field medical facility/transport.. anything less than that might encourage people to think that full medical support isn't necessary. (ie- we have a stretcher vehicle, we can get them help now, so why have an ambulance handy? or more than one ambulance) If the only real difference is protecting the field integrity, then you need to ask the folks that pay to keep those fields in-shape. If they're willing to pay (a price matching the cost of what you provide)for that, then there's a market for it. Otherwise? not so much. Quote
arshavin23 Posted March 22, 2010 Author Posted March 22, 2010 hmmm... ok i understand you now, thanks S Quote
