spur Posted May 29, 2010 Author Posted May 29, 2010 Hi Mike, Hope you enjoyed your vacation to the UK and it did not get cut short by the BA strike. I have given it a shot at creating a Hyperlink to named views within the drawing. What I did was create each named view. Insert Hyperlink and followed the dialog box directions and selected the Target option and picked the name view from the list. I then continued this for each of the named views in the order I required. Once I completed this I could Ctrl click the Hyperlink when working around the drawing to my desired location. Could you confirm if this was along your thinking for this option? One other question is it possible to create an irregular named view in model space like a Polygonal viewport? Quote
MikeScott Posted May 29, 2010 Posted May 29, 2010 Hi, At this point I'm almost wishing it HAD been cut short.. I'm currently in England with two aged parents that have both come down with a horrible stomach flu that's going around. I'm just hoping they'll have recovered by Monday for the flight back.. they're both feeling pretty miserable, and one of our hosts for this leg of the trip (my aunt) seems to have caught it too. Anyways.. Yeah, that's the kind of thing I was thinking of. I'm not sure how you'd go about using a polygonal viewport in a link, but perhaps you could fake it by drawing the polygon, and copying the visible information into it from another part of the drawing? Otherwise, I suspect you might be able to set-up some sort of macro or script for it, but I haven't the slightest idea on even how to DO a polygonal viewport normally, let alone through a script or macro.. (I don't think AutoCAD 2004 supports it). I DO know that if you make a batch link, like you did before, you can get it to run a script as it loads... so If you (or someone) came up with a script for it, you could at least pull it off that way. However, I suspect that if you do that, and then hit a hyperlink from within the drawing, it will simply maintain the current viewport and load the named view within it, unless you have another script ready to load through that hyperlink as well. I'm guessing though, you'll need to experiment or hear from wiser heads than mine. Quote
