Image Traceing

Recommended Posts

I do drawings for Audio/Video system design. Typically when I'm doing rack elevations I will either get .dwg's from the manufacturer and WBLOCK the parts needed or just make rectangles of the apropriate size with the gear name in it. For times when I cannot get the CAD files is there a way to import an image file and draw over it? Is there a way to auto generate this? I only ask cause I've opened files and they dont seem to be like they have been draw by hand.

Sorry if this is a noob Q.

I assume that is the same as Insert,Raster Image Reference. I just used this insert the image. Cool. Now I can trace it. Is there a better way?

I dont think there is an easier way of copying an image but you might want to search the forums and see what you come up with

Try saving the image file as a WMF file and importing that into AutoCAD. The WMF file will be a vector format - it will need cleaning up though...
