mcjohn Posted June 21, 2010 Posted June 21, 2010 Hi, with AutoCAD Civil 3D 2010 I created a surface from existing ground contours then a second surface (to represent a select area to blast) from a featureline and grading down to a certain elevation. I created an alignment through both surfaces and created a profile view of both surfaces of the alignment. In the profile view I am able to select either the existing ground object (called a 'profile' in properties) or the area to be blasted. To me they seem like two separate objects but editing the profile style-display-(view direction) profile-line color (for example) changes colors of both objects through separate surfaces even though only one is selected. How can I edit them independently? Quote
mcjohn Posted June 21, 2010 Author Posted June 21, 2010 I can explode the object twice (once becomes a block, the second time becomes lines). But this is a bad work around.. Quote
BIGAL Posted June 23, 2010 Posted June 23, 2010 Not sure if I am on the right track here our old civil software supported up to 8 surfaces within a profile, these could all be independant surfaces you got a profile of each one. Simply 2 profiles existing&design but could add more giving them a new name like blast1, blast2, when you plot the cross sections all surfaces could be displayed. Did a borehole model this way to show different sub surface levels across a site. I don't think Civ3d supports this method. You can cheat though by running the profile multiple times and plot long&cross sections then paste final results together showing all surfaces. Quote
mcjohn Posted June 23, 2010 Author Posted June 23, 2010 Civ3d I can create a profile from one alignment through multiple surfaces at once and the graph allows me to click on each one separately but they nonetheless depedent on each other. I've been using autocad for a while and trying to get used to using Civ3d which I don't really find has obvious control over its objects. Quote
