whippet
Hi Ppl Is there a way I can turn off 3D in autoCAD and work only with 2D A few jobs I open have 3D elevations. Its a nightmare Thanks Lyle
Tiger
No, not a on/off-switch. When I get files with points/lines in 3D I almost always spend some time taking a copy of the drawing and get everything down to 2D-format. I do this mostly with FLATTEN, but also some with command CHANGE > Elevation. It can take a lot of time, but usually I save that time in the end with files that take less time to open and I know the distances are correct. rvpas
Hi, See flatshot Home tab/Sections tab/Flatshot or type flatshot bye Pascal
ReMark
I'd try the Flatten command first. I'm not so sure you want to use the Flatshot command. I'd use the Change > Elevation command next, if Flatten doesn't do the job, as Tiger suggested.
Tiger
From Help: FLATSHOT: The edges of all 3D solids, surfaces, and meshes are projected line-of-sight onto a plane parallel to the viewing plane. The 2D representations of these edges are inserted as a block on the XY plane of the UCS. This block can be exploded for additional changes. If you have complex 3D-shapes then Flatshot would be the way. I don't think I would use it for just linework, but it might be me that is backwards. I may have to try it next time.
