Shiro Posted June 25, 2010 Posted June 25, 2010 I hope I'm asking this in the right catagory. I know there are many much newer versions of AutoCAD, but out of all I have worked with at school, LT 97 is my favorite. Unfortunately, the school is held by legal bindings that restrict them from letting me borrow or buy the software from them. I've been roaming the internet for two years trying to get a hold of this program, and so far no luck. Does anyone know where I could find this? Quote
ReMark Posted June 25, 2010 Posted June 25, 2010 You might try look on craigslist or eBay. LT 97 is your favorite? Dude...we're have way through the year 2010 and AutoDesk released the 2011 version back in April. You need to catch up. What OS would you be running this on? Quote
Shiro Posted June 25, 2010 Author Posted June 25, 2010 I've been scouring Ebay and Amazon for quite a while, actually. I don't know about Craigslist because I've never used the site. I was planning to run it on Windows 7 Ultimate. Someone else in the class somehow managed to find the program, and was running it flawlessly on Windows 7 Premium (no idea where they got it, but it was indeed LT 97). The newer versions act differently than what I'm used to, and have new features that really annoy me. Heck, I'm still running Adobe Photoshop 7 for the same reason. Quote
Tankman Posted June 25, 2010 Posted June 25, 2010 What would you be drawing? Welcome to the forums! Quote
ReMark Posted June 25, 2010 Posted June 25, 2010 Are you sure they are running LT 97 and not 2007? Quote
Shiro Posted June 26, 2010 Author Posted June 26, 2010 Yes, I am positive they're running LT 97. I've worked on their laptop when my own school computer was down. Tankman- Thanks and just about anything, actually. Right now I'm doing piping for class, but I've already drawn several schematics for prop work to use for some stage art. I'm also working on designing some fictional characters with it as a challenge to see if it makes my 3D work a little easier. Quote
Tankman Posted June 26, 2010 Posted June 26, 2010 Why not take a chance and upgrade to 2000? A good solid AutoCAD program. I just saw one on eBay presently $66.00 USD. PS. Where are you posting from? Quote
f700es Posted June 26, 2010 Posted June 26, 2010 Ugh, download that new free LT clone from DSS I posted about... http://www.cadtutor.net/forum/showthread.php?p=337184#post337184 I agree with the others, better options than LT97 out there. Quote
Shiro Posted June 26, 2010 Author Posted June 26, 2010 f700es- Oh! I'm sorry, I had no idea there was a free one out there! Thanks so much I'm downloading it right now. Tankman- If this free one doesn't do all I need, then I guess I'll have to go for 2000. Every other lead has dried up for 97. And I'm posting from my house, if that's what you mean. Quote

Cad64 Posted June 26, 2010 Posted June 26, 2010 I was asking, "Posting from, city, state, zip and/or country?" Zip? Really? Are you planning on mailing him a letter? Quote
ReMark Posted June 26, 2010 Posted June 26, 2010 What OS are you planning on using? When LT 97 was released these we the recommended OSes at the time: Windows 98 / 2000 / Me / NT / 95. Quote
Tankman Posted June 27, 2010 Posted June 27, 2010 Zip? Really? Are you planning on mailing him a letter? Would need a street address too! No, not a letter, perhaps UPS overnight. Sent from my "little brother" in Southern Cal. Quote
Shiro Posted June 27, 2010 Author Posted June 27, 2010 That free program works great, I didn't have time to do a lot with it, but so far it looks excellent. I did have a problem setting the ESnaps at first, but then I found where to edit them Thanks so much for the help, guys. And from USA, Texas. Quote
Cad64 Posted June 27, 2010 Posted June 27, 2010 And from USA, Texas. If you plan on sticking around, you might want to add this info to your profile so you won't have to keep answering that question every time you post. Quote
Tankman Posted June 28, 2010 Posted June 28, 2010 Big Brother wants to know. Asked, if you were local, I might have been able to help out. I have a very extensive AutoCAD library. Sorry but, the forum seniority has frowned..................... So. Cal. and alanjt have spoken! Over 'n out, Roger Wilco, 10-4. So much for these forums. Adios amigos. Address your problems to the Caddy! Quote

Address your problems to the Caddy! Who told you that you can't offer help? If you go back and re-read the posts in this thread you will see that no one said anything like that. We were just teasing you. I'm really not sure why you took offense to a couple of lighthearted jokes. I just thought it was funny that you were asking for the OP's zip code? I don't really understand why you would want to know that or how it's relevant, which is why I asked if your were planning on writing him a letter. It was just a joke. I am a little unclear as to what you mean by "if you were local I could have helped" though? Are you saying you will only help those that are local? Not sure what that's all about? There is no reason for you to leave the forum. If I offended you with my attempt at humor, I apologize. I will make a note to keep my replies to you on a strictly business level from now on. No more jokes. Quote
