Proxy Object won't allow Copying

I had a problem pop up today. "Proxy Object", new to me. Read a few posts here and there but saw definative solutions. Some asked for the originator to fix..??????

After playing with my problem, I found a solution that requires no external programs. I'm sorry if someone has already posted a solution, but Ididn't find one.

The background.....

I made a simple 2d drawing saved as 2007LT DWG, modified it, then saved as a DXF. I deleted some unneeded info off the DXF (the side and front veiws) and crtl-s saved. I sent it to my customer for approval. NEVER resaved as a DWG.

The custmer approved the DXF. When I went to open the DWG, it was unmodified, but the DXF was. I tried to crtl-copy and paste the DXF to the DWG and got the error.

The solution.....

I saved the DXF as a DXF v.12, purged , saved as 2007LT DXF. At that point Itried to crtl-copy to the DWG and it worked.

I hope this helps everyone, 'cause it surely had me upset for a while.
