Hello, I'm trying to combine a set of lines that I've snapped together to form an odd shaped polygon. Any suggestions of how to do this? thanks.

PEDIT > Multiple

(select 'yes' if it askes you to make them polylines)

JOIN (set a fuzz distance)

That should do it!

Thanks - I tried that & it didn't form the polylines I had into an object. I'm trying to get it to an object that I can measure the area from. Is there another step?

If you join the lines together as a single pline object (assuming it is closed) it's properties will give you an area.

PEDIT > Multiple (select all the lines) > Join (set fuzz distance) ENTER

this should join them together (unless they are not coplanar...)

if it is a closed shape, BOUNDARY works as well, and in my opinion is a bit quicker. Type in BO & hit enter to get there. you can choose whether the shape you create is a region or a pline, click inside your shape then enter, and your shape is created. Only drawback to this I found is the new shape is always created on the 0 of the perpendicular axis to your view
