Hi, I am getting a different line colour than the one set in the layer control. Its defaulting to red for some reason rather than bylayer. Can this be altered?

Ensure that Properties menu bar is visible - right click on menu area and verify to be checked. On Colors pop-up list - with no entity(ies) selected - chouse ByLayer or whatever color you want to be the default one.
