nucklehead Posted July 9, 2010 Posted July 9, 2010 Trying to draw a layout for a camp site, and can not figure out how to set up the page, units, and limits. Area needs to be 1000'x1000' and facilities will be shown as boxes or rectangles (that need to be to scale in feet) and I need to show distance between objects. Please help. Quote
fuccaro Posted July 9, 2010 Posted July 9, 2010 Don't bother with Limits. Start a new drawing -be sure it is in Imperial units. Use the right scale (meaning 1 drawing unit = 1 measurement unit). If you draw in feet, so 1feet is 1 drawing unit. To draw a rectangle that in the real world measures 10feet x 6feet, make it 10x6 drawing units. Place the rectangles in the right position. Zoom out to see the whole camp and you are done. It sounds so easy when just talking about. AutoCAD is a complex program and you need to learn to work with. Welcome in the forum! Quote
weiwah Posted July 9, 2010 Posted July 9, 2010 Suggestion: 1.Draw a rectangular area(1000x1000) in Model tab like Fuccaro said. 2.Draw all your objects inside it according to location and indicate each object clearly with text. 3.Use dimension command to state the distance between objects.Alternative way = draw line and arrow yourself and put in number. 4.after furnish everything, type Z follow with E to zoom out everything. Save as autocad 2000 version so that users with older version can view. Quote
