rraehal Posted July 15, 2010 Posted July 15, 2010 I am the IT guy at my office. I have several co-workers who use AutoCAD. All of the computer my users have are either Dell Latitude D830 or Dell Latitude E6400 computers. Each system run AutCAD 2008 and now 2010. We use Windows XP Service Pack 3 with Internet Explorer 8. I have 2 computers right now that have issues when in AutoCAD 2010 with the Mouse. The mouse stops every time I hit a line or block. The pause can take up to 10 seconds before the mouse continues. If I open the same drawing in AutoCAD 2008 the issue is gone. It does not matter if my user is in or out of the office. I have searched the Internet and tried changing various settings. Many articles/post talk about a pause for 1 to 2 seconds but nothing like my issue. I have set SORTENTS to 0 I have set LAYERDLGMODE to 0 I have use POFF to turn palettes off with no effect I have verified we were not using XREF's I have turn off hardware accelration and turned it back on There is no new driver for the E6400 yet The D830 has the latest driver I have 8 E6400 laptops and 3 or 4 D830's that do not have this issue. I use that same ghost image to place windows, software, and updates on the PC. After windows is running I install AutoCAD using a network deployment. Any suggestions on what other settings I might change or things I might try to resolve this issue for my users. I will soon be going to straight Windows 7 and AutoCAD 2010 and would like this issue resolved before then. We use another software that does not support AutoCAD 2011 yet so I will not upgrade yet. Pablo Ferral Posted July 16, 2010 Posted July 16, 2010 This might be caused by the new 'Rollover tool tips', try turning them off in the Options dialog. Quote
rraehal Posted July 16, 2010 Author Posted July 16, 2010 I have asked my users with the issue to try this suggestion. I will post a reply when I hear back from them. Quote
Cad64 Posted July 16, 2010 Posted July 16, 2010 Try unchecking both options under "Selection Preview". OPTIONS > Selection tab > Selection Preview. This will disable the highlighting effect when your cursor passes over objects. Quote
rraehal Posted July 19, 2010 Author Posted July 19, 2010 Try unchecking both options under "Selection Preview". OPTIONS > Selection tab > Selection Preview. This will disable the highlighting effect when your cursor passes over objects. The cursor still acts stubborn with this setting off for one of my users. I still have not heard back from either user if the tool tips suggestion worked or not. Quote
Pablo Ferral Posted July 19, 2010 Posted July 19, 2010 The other one is the new 'Quick properties' mini-palette... Quote
rraehal Posted July 20, 2010 Author Posted July 20, 2010 It seems that none of these settings change the cursor delay. We did discover that if I save my drawings in 2010 format, close AutoCAD and re-open the drawing the lag goes away. We have a lot of drawings in 2008 format and older that we have collected over the years. The update to the new format seems to be resolving my issue. I need to test this with a drawing that uses XREF's because I may need to update the format of all my XREF's as well. If re-saving drawings in the new format resolves this issue for me permanently, I will let you know. Quote
