Cheap guy still using AutoCAD 14

I still use AC14. I also just got a new DELL 64 bit machine w/Vista. I tried loading AutoCAD onto it and it will not load. Is this possible? Thanks!

Your computer is 64-bit. Release 14 AutoCAD is 32-bit. You might be able to get it to work but to do so means you'll have to run it in compatability mode.

 

Let's see, Release 14 was introduced in 1997 and it is now 2010. Just out of curiousity, is the car you drive 13 years old too?

If you bought Autocad 2011 at say £3000 (no idea what real price is) and use it for the next thirteen years, then that's a whopping £230 a year That's it I'm not changing until 2023

Well I guess you just don't hear the "I've got Acad 2011 but it won't work on Windows 3.1, HELP!"

1. Right click the executable and click the Properties option.
   
2. Select the Compatibility tab.
   
3. Select the Run This Program in Compatibility Mode option.
   
4. From the drop-down list, choose the operating system you ran before upgrading to Vista.
   
5. If necessary, select the option to run the program as an administration.
   
6. Click OK.
   

Note: Windows 95 was released in August, 1995 while Windows 98 was released in May, 1998. So my suggestion would be to choose Windows 98 as the operating system in step #4 above. Actually, Win98 SE was the best OS of that time period. Do not choose Win95.
