ReMark Posted August 3, 2010 Posted August 3, 2010 You might have to shut off some of the features of Win7. BTW..."Help" is not a good title for a thread. In the future please be more descriptive. Thanks. Quote
Tiger Posted August 3, 2010 Posted August 3, 2010 I have renamed and moved your thread to a more suitable location. I have worked from Laptops before, never used them much without the cable though... Quote
CAD Library Posted August 3, 2010 Author Posted August 3, 2010 ok sorry about my title remark... how will I shut off some win7's features? Quote
ReMark Posted August 3, 2010 Posted August 3, 2010 Hmmm....let's pause a moment. I may have responded too hastily. Seems you are not alone in reporting this type of problem. Some users have seen a drastic decline in battery life after switching to Win7. According to one article I read... "Microsoft's stance is that the root cause of the issue is related to specific system firmware, meaning it only affects machines with certain BIOS releases." There are however a number of people who dispute this and claim the problem is more widespread (shows up across various manufacturers). Here is the link to the article. It dates from Feb., 2010. http://arstechnica.com/microsoft/news/2010/02/microsoft-looking-into-windows-7-battery-life-failures.ars Quote
ReMark Posted August 3, 2010 Posted August 3, 2010 Recommendations for conserving battery power from Microsoft: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/Conserving-battery-power BTW...how old is your laptop? Quote
CAD Library Posted August 3, 2010 Author Posted August 3, 2010 its 9 months old... I hope microsoft has a better solution for this... Thank you for the link. I'll try to find some more solutions.... Quote
ReMark Posted August 3, 2010 Posted August 3, 2010 9 months? Then I don't see why you should be having a problem. A fair number of those reporting problems had laptops that were at least 18 months old or older. What is the make/model of your laptop? Have you checked the manufacturer's website for information/recommendations regarding the battery problem? I recently (early July) bought a new laptop and I'm running Win7 Ultimate on it as well. So far I have experienced no battery related problems. Quote
CAD Library Posted August 3, 2010 Author Posted August 3, 2010 acer aspire 4730z... yes..I will try to check on the manufacturer's website.... my friend is also experiencing the same problem... her laptop is 2 years old.. Quote
ReMark Posted August 3, 2010 Posted August 3, 2010 Manufacturers should be working with their customers to address the problem since it was first encountered and talked about back in April, 2009. Quote
