jbird68 Posted August 6, 2010 Posted August 6, 2010 Hey, I have a model of a block. All the curved surfaces have line to show the surfaces. I just want to show th edge lines and not the surface lines. How do I do that? Quote
JD Mather Posted August 8, 2010 Posted August 8, 2010 yes...i think the value is 1 or 10 i guess Try 1 or 0, not 10. 1=On 0=Off Quote
jbird68 Posted August 9, 2010 Author Posted August 9, 2010 dispsilh did not do anything, whether I use 0 or 1. Quote
ReMark Posted August 9, 2010 Posted August 9, 2010 Try the variable VSOBSCUREDEDGES. Set it to a value of 0. 1=on. 0=off. Does that do the trick? Quote
jbird68 Posted August 9, 2010 Author Posted August 9, 2010 VSOBSCUREDEDGES does not seem to be a valid command. When I try that, I get "Press F1 for Help." Quote
ReMark Posted August 9, 2010 Posted August 9, 2010 AutoCAD settings that affect 3D output. DISPSILH – Display Sihouette This setting affects the results of the Hide command. A setting of 0 displays tessellation lines. A setting of 1 suppresses tessellation lines. FACETRES – Rendered Object Smoothness This setting affects both rendering and hide results. The default setting is 0.5. The max setting is 10. A lower setting results in a quicker render time but rounded edges will appear as a series of straight segments. A higher setting results in a longer render time but rounded edges will appear much smoother. ISOLINES – Contour lines per surface This setting affects the wireframe view but not the Hide or Render commands. Settings can range from 0 to 2047. The default setting is 4. SPLINESEGS – Segments in a Polyline Curve This setting controls the number of segments in a polyline curve. The settings range from 0 to 32767 with the default being 8. The higher the setting the smoother the appearance is of a rendered curve. Quote
jbird68 Posted August 9, 2010 Author Posted August 9, 2010 This is what I am trying to accomplish. This was done by previous draftman and put into an assembly. I have tried all settings posted here and still can't get rid of the lines. It looks so much cleaner without the lines. Quote
ReMark Posted August 9, 2010 Posted August 9, 2010 Let's backtrack. When you reset DISPSILH to 1 did you do a REGEN immediately afterwards? Quote
ReMark Posted August 9, 2010 Posted August 9, 2010 DISPSILH=1 should have worked as originally suggested by JDM. Try again. I tested it myself. Quote
jbird68 Posted August 9, 2010 Author Posted August 9, 2010 I did regen right after making the change. I have attached the original file. T890-02-20562_item9.dwg Quote
ReMark Posted August 9, 2010 Posted August 9, 2010 DISPSILH set to 1. 3DHidden view yields this: Quote
jbird68 Posted August 9, 2010 Author Posted August 9, 2010 It does not change my view in 3D Hidden. Is there something else that could be set wrong? Quote
ReMark Posted August 9, 2010 Posted August 9, 2010 It does not change my view in 3D Hidden. Is there something else that could be set wrong? Really? I can get it to work and you can't? No, I did not change any other setting. Must be gremlins. Evil creatures they are indeed. Well this is funny. I just reset DISPSILH to 0 and the tesselation lines did not show up. So, I can't get them back and you can't get rid of them! Quote
ReMark Posted August 9, 2010 Posted August 9, 2010 Seems like you really don't have to change any settings. I closed your drawing without saving it. I reopened the drawing and went immediately to the isometric view. The visual style listed for the viewport is "Current". I changed this to 3DHidden and the lines that have so concerned you disappeared. That's all it takes. Quote
jbird68 Posted August 9, 2010 Author Posted August 9, 2010 I don't see where to change it from "Current" to 3DHidden Quote
ReMark Posted August 9, 2010 Posted August 9, 2010 Arrrgh! My brain hardly functions well on Monday mornings and you want me to recall the features of of product that is six years old? Do I look like a machine? Don't answer that. LOL What happens if you type the word HIDE at the command line? Quote
