Kate_pw Posted September 10, 2008 Posted September 10, 2008 Hello - When I share files containing xrefs with another team member working remotely and storing files remotely (as I am), I inherit her hard paths and it takes a long time to re-path them all. I am wondering if there is an easy way to universally remove the xref paths entirely so that xrefs exising in the same directory will be read? Thanks, kate Quote
Dipali Posted September 10, 2008 Posted September 10, 2008 you are suppose to be using relative path so that way if your folder structure is same as your team member, you should not need to repath them again. Quote
Kate_pw Posted September 10, 2008 Author Posted September 10, 2008 iI'm not sure what that means to be using relative path. Can you explain a bit more? Thanks. Quote
Dipali Posted September 10, 2008 Posted September 10, 2008 it is very big topic. have a look at this thread http://www.cadtutor.net/forum/showthread.php?t=21218&highlight=relative+path and also you can search the forum with the keyword relative path & will find information Quote
CmdrDuh Posted September 10, 2008 Posted September 10, 2008 if your xref is in the same folder as the main dwg, they will load automatically even with hard paths. But if you wanted to change to relative paths, you would do 1 of 2 things, when you attach them, specify in the attach box that they are relative, or after they are attached, change the "found path" to .\ pathing. the "." is for current folder, so if your xrefs were in a subfolder under the one your dwg is in, you would change your path to be .\xrefs\dwgname Quote
CmdrDuh Posted September 10, 2008 Posted September 10, 2008 Also, if you are doing this alot, you can automate it with a small VBA or LISP program, assuming your not using LT Quote
