STaylor Posted August 19, 2010 Posted August 19, 2010 Hi all, I have been browsing this website for a few weeks now and found so many helpful posts. It's been a huge help to me. I have a question about drawing a topo map... I have a site plan, with general topo lines (10' spacing) and I need a program, that will analyze the distance between the lines, and shape of the lines and basically infer/extrapolate the lines in between into 1' increments. I have never had to do something like this, and have no idea what to start, or even what program to use. Can AutoCAD 3D mapping do this? Should I try to draw this in 3D (in Revit, or otherwise) to accomplish this? Any help would be GREATLY appreciated. I've just been asked to work on this project at my new firm and I definitely need to find a solution right away. Thank you! S Quote
bobsy852 Posted August 19, 2010 Posted August 19, 2010 I've not had any experience with AutoCAD 3D or Revit before so I wouldn't be able to say for them. However, in my previous employment at a topo surveyor, my boss then paid for a programme called N4ce. I think it was relativley cheap, (although I couldnt be 100% as he used to throw money at anything) - but that used to do all the topo editing we needed, we only experted into CAD so that clients had a file type they could read. I wasn't very skilled on the programme though as I only got about 4days total use on it in the time I was there, I mainly did the actual surveying! Quote
BIGAL Posted August 20, 2010 Posted August 20, 2010 Where did you get the original topo plan from? Contours are generated from a TIN the contour spacing interval is irrelevant by that you can have any increment you want. It would be quicker to go to the source and just recontour at a new interval. In civil3d its just a case of picking a different style and instantly done. A five minute if that phone call sounds the way to go. Quote
