NL2008 Posted August 31, 2010 Posted August 31, 2010 Hello, Does anyone know if you can change an entire layers properties? I have created a portion of my drawing using a defpoints layer that is listed as unplottable, am I able to change this layer so that I am able to plot? or will I have to re-create the areas that I have created in this layer? any help would be much appreciated. thanks Quote
ReMark Posted August 31, 2010 Posted August 31, 2010 Have you tried renaming the Defpoints layer to something else? Quote
NL2008 Posted August 31, 2010 Author Posted August 31, 2010 I tried renaming but the drawing appears with a bunch of circles and cross hairs over all of my dimensioning. It does work to an extent but I will need to re-add all of the dimensions to the drawing Quote
ReMark Posted August 31, 2010 Posted August 31, 2010 How about the Copy Objects to New Layer command? Quote
NL2008 Posted August 31, 2010 Author Posted August 31, 2010 I haven't tried that one yet. Where would I access that command? thanks Quote
ReMark Posted August 31, 2010 Posted August 31, 2010 Try looking under the Format drop-down menu. Is Layer Tools one of the choices? Quote
Cad64 Posted August 31, 2010 Posted August 31, 2010 Use the QSELECT command. This will open a dialog that will allow you to specify what to select. Object Type: Multiple Properties: Layer Operator: = Equals Value: Defpoints Click OK and all entities on layer Defpoints will be selected. So now you can just move them to a different layer. Quote
NL2008 Posted September 1, 2010 Author Posted September 1, 2010 Thanks very much. Those tips did the trick:D Quote
Patrick Hughes Posted September 1, 2010 Posted September 1, 2010 In the future it would be wise to never place objects on the defpoints layer. That layer is intended for AutoCAD's own use to place the points that define dimension nodes and as you discovered it does not plot. Quote
