SolidWorks file export

Recommended Posts

I have several clients a month bringing in .sldasm, .sldprt file types and I can only open 2003 to 2007 SW files in Inventor.

Is there anyone willing to resave a few files for me as an older version of SW?

Or any other file type I can open in Inventor or AutoCAD

Thanks in advance.

Hey dave, are your clients not willing to export the files as iges or stl files for you? What version of SW are they running?

Apparantly not....the client was basically tired of dealing with the designer and he didnt get the file types I asked him to have exported.

Ive learned not to ask who was doing the design work for a client up to that point.

I have an add-in for Inventor '08 that should allow me to open sld files (as long as its '03 to '07), even though they will come in a dumb solids.....but yes, iges, acis,stp....etc, would all do the trick.

I cannot open the files, so I have no idea what year SW the files were created in......

I don't thing stl would be of much use. STEP (*.stp) probably the easiest to work with.

Might be time to upgrade to Inventor 2011 to open later version of SWx files (up to 2010).

I run SW 2010. I can open your files and export them as IGES files. Would this help?

Absolutely.......

The uploader on the site is either not working, or painfully slow....
