CAD-LOVER0208 Posted September 12, 2008 Posted September 12, 2008 Hello all, First of all I would like to say that this is the BEST website ever. Everything about CAD is almost here, WOW... I have a problem and I need someone to help me with it please. I downloaded the 2009 AutoCAD from the students’ site. So, for sure most of you have 2009 and know how it looks like, it's mostly 3d. So, my problem is that I have an assignment due, that we have to make a site plan and draw the surveys units ? First, I don't know how to go back to the black screen to make my site plan. Second, if I change it, how can I get back to the white page, which is the new face for 2009 CAD ? Third, I’m good with sketches and manual drafting, but when using CAD I am in a big trouble... SO, my third problem is, how can I draw the surveys units, which is the site plan and the property lines ? Sorry for my long thread, but I’m really desperate and I need to get this done on Monday 15. Thank you so much for whoever can help me and solve me problems, I appreciate it so much. CAD-LOVER0208 Quote
lpseifert Posted September 12, 2008 Posted September 12, 2008 I only have 2008 so I hope the interface is similar... First - Click on the Model tab Second - Layout tab Third - See here Quote
CAD-LOVER0208 Posted September 12, 2008 Author Posted September 12, 2008 thank you lpseifert for reading my thread. Well, 2009 CAD Architecture is totally diff. than 2008.. and most of the tools are diff. i mean some of them i don't even know where they are. Help I tried to upload my skecth here but I dind't know how.. Quote
ReMark Posted September 12, 2008 Posted September 12, 2008 There should be buttons or tabs at the bottom of your screen to switch between model space (black) and layout (white). Layouts used to be referred to as paperspace. Survey data can be input at the keyboard. Distance first followed by angle. Example: @52.5 Quote
ReMark Posted September 12, 2008 Posted September 12, 2008 I doubt you can uplaod anything until you've reached a minimum number of posts. Isn't that how it works? Example of Degrees...minutes...seconds: @52.5 Quote
CAD-LOVER0208 Posted September 13, 2008 Author Posted September 13, 2008 WOW, i got it ... thank you all for helping.. but there is something i can't still figure it out. Well, if i just can upload my sketch here, u might understand my question more. i'll try to upload it later.. Quote
Dipali Posted September 13, 2008 Posted September 13, 2008 WOW, i got it ... thank you all for helping.. but there is something i can't still figure it out. Well, if i just can upload my sketch here, u might understand my question more. i'll try to upload it later.. to upload your post count should be 10. so answer or comment in som eof the threads in technical thread. or you can start 7 new threads with different questions you need to ask about cad Quote
ReMark Posted September 13, 2008 Posted September 13, 2008 We're here to assist. Whatever you still can't figure out try to put into words as best as you can. If we need a "translator" we'll work that out too. Quote
CAD-LOVER0208 Posted September 13, 2008 Author Posted September 13, 2008 awww. you guys are great. thank you again. I'll keep saying thank you because u people here deserve that.. Translator hahah that's so nice . Thank God I am in the right place here.. Because I found out a lot of simple stuff here that college didn't teach me, or maybe I wasn't so familiar with cad so I didn't really care at that time, which was two years ago. Quote
Dipali Posted September 13, 2008 Posted September 13, 2008 ok so now your post count is over 10, so why don't you upload your sketch here. Quote
CAD-LOVER0208 Posted September 13, 2008 Author Posted September 13, 2008 Hello.. here is my fast simple sketch.. you see those numbers and property lines, i don't know how to start, and how to draw all that... I find it easier to building a house, and design windows and doors and furniture than drawing property lines and slopes and layouts and site plans.. Quote
Cad64 Posted September 13, 2008 Posted September 13, 2008 Just for the record, anyone can include images in their post. Even a new member posting his first question can include images in his post. The only restriction is on the inclusion of links to external sites. For that you need to have the required minimum 10 posts. Quote
Cad64 Posted September 13, 2008 Posted September 13, 2008 Cad-Lover, are you asking how to create Text? Or are you asking you to change your Units? I'm not really sure what the question is? Quote
CAD-LOVER0208 Posted September 14, 2008 Author Posted September 14, 2008 ok you see the numbers on your right hand ? ex. 130.56 and all that numbers. I'm not sure how to put them in cad, i don't know how to start that ... Quote
Dipali Posted September 14, 2008 Posted September 14, 2008 I DO NOT HAVE EXPERIANCE WITH THE SURVEY UNITS, AND NOT MANY PEOPLE HERE ON SUNDAY SO YOU WILL HAVE TO WAIT TOMORROW, BUT MEANWHILE SEARCH THE SITE. I FOUND THIS WITH QUICK SEARCH. http://www.cadtutor.net/forum/showthread.php?t=24614&highlight=SITE+PLAN IT ALSO MENTIONS A TUTORIAL WHICH YOU CAN REFER TO. Quote
eldon Posted September 14, 2008 Posted September 14, 2008 Not knowing about Canadian surveying, but having a wild guess, I would say that the figures written at 45° are ground elevations. If you are making a ground model, then you would have to put a point at the intersection of the lines at that z value. If you are just drawing a plan, then just putting the text there would be sufficient. I must say that on your sketch, there is not enough information written on the plan to draw it. I would have to be asking for further dimensions. Quote
CAD-LOVER0208 Posted September 14, 2008 Author Posted September 14, 2008 thank you guys for helping... i will have to get more info from my teacher.. cuz none of my friends has done the work, because of the lack of information. thanks again for helping.. i'll see what happens and i'll let you know more later. ReMark Posted September 14, 2008 Posted September 14, 2008 Surveying units in the U.S. are in decimal feet. 52.17' would be 52'-2"; 39.75' would be 39'-9". The units of measure work out to 0.0833=1". I don't know how they are handled in Canada. A quick call to any surveyor in the phone book might answer that question. Quote
ReMark Posted September 14, 2008 Posted September 14, 2008 Looking at the sketch I'd say that there is not enough inofrmation there to adequately reconstruct the survey. Besides, one of the dimensions (?) appears to have a "m" after it. Meters? Not that it would make much difference, again for lack of info, but could the numbers be elevations? There isn't enough information to size and locate the barn either. Not sure what kind of survey it is except to say in my personal experience it is rather poor. Sorry to be so blunt. No reflection on you. Quote
CAD-LOVER0208 Posted September 14, 2008 Author Posted September 14, 2008 it's ok bro, u can say anything u want. it's my fault i didn't ask my instructor for more info, and i got stuck with the sketch lol .. the sketch is called " site plan showing spot elevations " sorry if i am giving you headache with my sketch, this is college lol and we have to figure out everything on our own.. but Thank God there are nice people like you who love to help. thanks again... i'll wait till monday 15 and ask my instructor for further info.
