Trickinitup Posted September 15, 2008 Posted September 15, 2008 Hi all, Wondering if any body has experienced this in Autocad 2007. Couple of months back I accidentaly dragged the Design Centre Box off the screen to the right hand side. I managed to retreave it but it now, no matter what, goes of the screen to the right and I can't resize or move back so the it is completely within the screen boundaries. It still works OK but some blocks are hidden to right just off screen. Box does not reset when I close and reopen session. Any suggestions? Thanks Nik Quote
sab423 Posted September 18, 2008 Posted September 18, 2008 Sounds like the dialog box is locked in place. Try holding the Ctrl key down as you place your mouse over the dialog box. If you can resize the the box by holding the Ctrl key then dialog box is locked. Look along the bottom right of your AutoCAD screen to see if there is a Lock showing in the corner. Click on the lock and you should get a list of different features that can be locked in place, such as Floating Toolbars, Dialog Boxes etc... If a feature is locked it will have check beside it. To unlock just click on the name of the feature. Hope this helps. Quote
Trickinitup Posted September 18, 2008 Author Posted September 18, 2008 Thanks for that. I've got worse probs now. It seems to have disappeared all together and I can't get it back. Looks like I might have to reinstall. But I did an experiment with my properties window. I dragged it off the the right side of the screen. Once you release it you cant bring it back. But, I could resize it from the left as usual and move it back onto the viewable area. Why is it that you can run your cursor off the RHS boundary as if there is a phantom desktop extension there? Weird. Cheers Quote
Trickinitup Posted September 18, 2008 Author Posted September 18, 2008 Sorry I didn't get back to you earlier. "Posting Screen Shots"........So how do you that? Quote
sab423 Posted September 18, 2008 Posted September 18, 2008 Ok did you close the Design Center Dialog box? If so you can hit Ctrl+2 to turn it back on. Another option instead of reinstalling may be to check your display properties under Control Panel in Windows. If you can select a larger display that may show the items that are currently off the screen. Quote
Glen Smith Posted November 11, 2009 Posted November 11, 2009 I just had this happen to me. It's not a matter of the toolbars or display or dialog box being locked. Somehow the side that you can grab onto to move the design center dialog box was placed off screen. So you can't get the mouse on it to move it back on screen. I took the advice above and increased my screen resolution temporarily, then draged it back on screen. Now I just have to reorganize my desktop icons. Glen Quote
rkent Posted November 11, 2009 Posted November 11, 2009 CUI, under workspaces select current, to the righ under customize workspaces, pick palettes, pick design center, down below, change orientation from floating to Left or right. It should show now. Quote
Trickinitup Posted November 11, 2009 Author Posted November 11, 2009 Thanks for your advice people, I got mine back, by resizing the sceen accidentally. But i've just got to say, that is ridiculous. Stuff like that needs to fixed in future editions. All dialogue boxes should not be able to be accidentally dragged off screen. One's things for sure, forums like this are GOLD.................... Have a good one, Quote
