sorry, yeah they are 4 different single line text objects

Then it should work fine. The (strcat "*" (getstring ...) "*") on either side will account for anything that has your specified string.

I undertsand that Lee aptly provided a contingency in his getstring message (i.e., ""), I was just confused by the inclusion itself.

 

Ockham's Razor, I 'spose.

That's one of the problems with filtering text directly from the ssget filter.

 

Actually, you can do this with QSelect.

 

i just tried that. it needs to match the entire contents of the mtext object.

 

Not if you set the Object type to text, properties to Contents, and Operator to Wildcard Match.

Ahh, I understand what you are getting at and it makes sense; why would you want to be able to select text matching everything (thus, no filter)?
