guitarguy1685
Ok well I've been using AutoCAD since R10 to 2011. Now I venture into Revit since most architectural firms are asking for AutoCAD AND revit skills. I'm a quick learning so here I go. My question is where can I get some good Revit Tutorials? Are there any books you can recommend?
lroa
First things first forget about Autocad, going into Revit thinking as if its even similar to Autocad it will only get you heading in the wrong direction. I just completed beginner and intermediate course at my local CC. I can tell you this after 15 years of Autocad, it did nothing to help me. I had a hard time in the first month trying to compare. That being said YouTube was my best freind when I first started to trying out Revit. CadClips has some good ones that can get you started in the right direction. Dont get to cocky and think its easy, start with their level 1 and really understand it.
Noahma
Paul Aubin's book "mastering revit architecture" is GREAT, that is what I used to learn Revit and Autocad Architecture
Bill Tillman
to coin a phrase from the 60's.... I too just spent the last few days getting used to Revit Architecture because more of the projects I am working on are required to be in BIM. And the one and only detailer we have on staff told, me "No sweat. I can do BIM with plain old AutoCAD." Well the jury is still out on that call. But what I can tell you is Revit Architecture is nothing at all like AutoCAD. You will have to get ready for a different way of entering commands and the cross-hairs are all but non-existent. Drawing in Revit is not the way we are used to drawing in AutoCAD. I found the "No Experience Required" series of books to be of some use. Limited I'm sure but useful to get started from scratch which is what I'm having to do.
