dimmension in a dwg

how do i select to dimmension in the same format every time i select dim from ribbon.i am using 2011 cad but i found out the layout is metric but the dim show up in mm.i wish to see in m.cheers in advance

Draw in mm. but want dimension to be in m.

 

For example:

 

a. create a 2000 units (mm.) lines (assure that UNITS is set to mm. where 2000 units is taken to represent 2000 mm.)

b. enter alias b at command prompt, opening the dimension style manager dialog box

c. create a new dimension style say "mm_to_m" based on a style that you work with

d. go to "Primary Units" tab and in Measurement Scale group in "Scale Factor:", you enter 0.001 (that 1/1000)

e. set the new style to current

f. apply linear or align dimension to the line just created and the dimension text should be 2.000 instead of 2000.000

 

You can also suppress the trailling zeros (having 2 instead of 2.000), have a " M." (don't forget the space before M) suffix (having 2 M. instead of 2.000) ... all this a matter of choice and needs.
