How you guys model 3d from example "real" 3d-card or motherboards (just make rightdimensions, and then paste image top of it ?) If I were modeling a graphics card I would do the basic card shape itself and add the fan/heat sink and that's about it. I don't see a need to add a graphic just to make it look pretty. David Bethel Posted November 10, 2010 Share Posted November 10, 2010 There are a ton of ways to go about that type of modeling This ( network PCI card ) was done mostly with extruded 2D solid, circles. I made a mesh for foot plate. Dimensionally - fairly close ( I didn't break out any calipers ) You could also use 3D solids. A lot depends on your experience level.
