I dont know what happened but when I click on my autocad2008 icon it opens in mech for some reason. When I open the properties it shows a target box that has mech listed. I am a student and when I installed the student software back in Jan. mech and civil also went in. I really dont have a problem with it but I dont know if it will be a problem when I save my work from home the open it a school in Autocad 2008. I am using vista if that makes a difference. Any one know what might have happened and how to fix it. Thanx

Right click on the Shortcut Icon and delete the portion that has the /p in it under the Path. That little piece of text is what makes it open in the Mechanical profile. Do that and it will open the plain jane version of AutoCAD.

There is no P in it. Civil and mech do though.Where it tell it what to start in reads the same as the mech. it tell it to start in MTD 2008. Thanx for the help and if you know of something else I might try I would be willing to listen. Also the mech and cicil icons have a compatability button under props and the reg autocad does not. Thanx
