PLEASE HELP!! Problem with *.CAD file

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I am a surveyor and recently completed a large internal survey, using PocketCAD software on an HP handheld computer - this produces a *.CAD format file.

The software essential to converting this to AutoCAD dwg/dxfs is called "cadexchange", and is packed with PocketCAD.

However the one computer which had this software has self-destructed, and the original CD (software is from 2002) is nowhere to be seen.

Problem = we can't convert the survey to AutoCAD. 'PocketCAD' have apparently gone out of business so they can't be contacted.

1. Does anyone still use the PocketCAD/Cadexchange system and could they possibly convert the file?

2. Does anyone know anyone who still uses it?

3. Does anyone know a reputable download link for the software/or for a converter?

Can anyone help?!

Thanks,

You can download a trial version of the software from here: http://www.soft32.com/Download/free-trial/PocketCAD_PRO_40/4-152101-1.html

Perhaps the demo version will allow you to manipulate the data?

If the *.CAD file is in ascii format post a small extract to see if it can be manipulated into a form that you can read into AutoCAD.

Don't you back up your system in Jockoland ;-)))

Thanks for the reply.

We back up our remote server everyday but as this software lived on the C:/ of said self-destructed machine it may have slipped through the net in that respect, but its something i'll check out.

I'm not sure if the file is in "ascii" format. It's a *.CAD file, which AutoCAD doesn't open.

I'll look into the demo version but I think someones already tried it and it didn't let you convert to an AutoCAD format. But i'll take another look.

I think my best hope is finding someone somewhere on the planet who uses this software - surely we're not the only ones!
