Jpier Posted December 13, 2010 Posted December 13, 2010 I am using AutoCAD 2010. I am preparing an architectural drawing of a house I am designing. I made a dynamic block of one of the rectangular panels that will compose the exterior walls of the house. I set up parameters and actions to modify the height and width of the panels. I have two issues. First when I insert a block into my drawing it required that I reduce its x and y scale by a ratio of 1/25.4. That worked fine when I changed the x and y scale in the properties window. My parameter and action for the width seems to work fine, but when I reduce the height, it accepts my new value, but it does not actually change the height of my dynamic block. Any suggestions what I am doing wrong? Quote
MarcoW Posted December 13, 2010 Posted December 13, 2010 Did you apply the right paramter to th right action? If you got the width working then you know how it should be done with the height. So I guess you are missing a little thing... If this is of no help, can you post the block / drawing then? Quote
Jpier Posted December 13, 2010 Author Posted December 13, 2010 Here is the referenced file I was talking about. The dynamic block that does not seem to be acting correctly is any of the green panels (rectangles) in the drawing. I set up parameters to adjust both the height and the width of the rectangles, but it does not seem to do what I want in practice. Quote
MarcoW Posted December 13, 2010 Posted December 13, 2010 Maybe you forgot to add the attachement? Quote
Jpier Posted December 13, 2010 Author Posted December 13, 2010 I guess my original attachment was too large. I had to delete virtually everything but the block(s) I am working on. I think you still should be able to see what my situation is and hopefully explain to me what is going on. Other issue having to do with the way I got the file from the other company is that a window pops up talking about unresovled reference files. If you click ignore unresolved reference files, the drawing opens up without a problem. I don't think that issue has anything to do with my problem dynamic block. CadTutor Example.dwg Quote
MarcoW Posted December 13, 2010 Posted December 13, 2010 What about this one, is this what you mean? CadTutor Example_v2.dwg Quote

Here is a little description about xrefs. Quote
Jpier Posted December 14, 2010 Author Posted December 14, 2010 Hi MarcoW: Thanks much for helping me with this one. Your version seems to work great!. Just wondering if you have any idea what I was doing wrong so I will be able to work the next block better. I have only been working with blocks for a couple weeks, so I guess there is still much to learn. I also noticed that the dashed lines in the interior of my panel which actually represent chases inside the panel now also work better. Anyway, thanks again for your help Quote
MarcoW Posted December 14, 2010 Posted December 14, 2010 Hey Jpier, No problem, I am glad to be of help ! If you need more info, just ask. See above, post #2: Did you apply the right paramter to th right action? If you got the width working then you know how it should be done with the height. So I guess you are missing a little thing... You just did not "connect" the right action to the right parameter. What I did was delete the parameter, and added a new one "distance2". Next I put in the stretch action (of wich I am quite shure you did that one wrong also) and assigned the parameter to it. This was all. See yah around sometime. Kind regards, MarcoW. Quote
