Hachebe Posted December 13, 2010 Posted December 13, 2010 Hi all! I'm an architecture student, and as such I frequently use Autocad. CUrrently I'm ith acad2010, and so far so good. Only trouble happened today: I left my laptop on Sleep mode, and when I turned it on again, my autocad drawing had disappeared! In model space everything is completely BLACK. Not even the cursor is showing! It's really strange because I can type the "line" command and it will ask me the starting point and the end point, but that is useless since I don't see where my line is starting or where it's ending! I mean, the program acts as if my file as open and visible, but it is not! Can someone please help me? It's only happening ith this particular file. I tried opening others and they work fine. Maybe I pressed the wrong button by accident... I've no idea Any help will be most welcome! Regards, Hachebe Quote
Glen1980 Posted December 13, 2010 Posted December 13, 2010 Can you upload the file? Also check if you have the automatic save file go to options and look in the first tab for automatic save location or the .bak file which is in the same folder as the file that isn't working. Quote
Hachebe Posted December 13, 2010 Author Posted December 13, 2010 Hey Glenn! Thanks for the quick reply. Unfortunately my file weighs 1.93mb, which exceeds the forum's capability... I'll try megaupload then. Shall I also upload the .bak file? Quote
Glen1980 Posted December 13, 2010 Posted December 13, 2010 If you have the .bak rename it .dwg than open it, you may be lucky and have a pre-strange AutoCAD muck up version of the drawing. Quote
Glen1980 Posted December 13, 2010 Posted December 13, 2010 When you get it back it may be worth a purge and an audit to shave off a few kb's! Quote
Hachebe Posted December 13, 2010 Author Posted December 13, 2010 OK, here it goes! http://www.megaupload.com/?d=GIFNPPQ5 Fingers über-crossed... why oh why do these things happen ONLY when deadlines approach? Cheers! H Quote
Glen1980 Posted December 13, 2010 Posted December 13, 2010 D'oh! Web Filter Violation! I'm sure there is someone else on here who can help. Did changing the bak file help? Quote
Hachebe Posted December 13, 2010 Author Posted December 13, 2010 Oh, shame! I'm trying to discover now how to rename files in windows 7... it's one of those silly things I forget how to do the minute I've done it! Quote
ReMark Posted December 13, 2010 Posted December 13, 2010 You don't need to post the entire drawing just enough of it so we get the main idea as stated in your first post. Pare it down and attach the dwg file not the bak. Quote
Hachebe Posted December 13, 2010 Author Posted December 13, 2010 Hey ReMark, thanks for the reply! It's a good piece of advice, but my main problem is that I can't see any part of the drawing, hence I cannot select any part of it to save it as a separate file... Quote
ReMark Posted December 13, 2010 Posted December 13, 2010 Then you would have to email to someone. Quote
JPlanera Posted December 13, 2010 Posted December 13, 2010 Try to open the drawing using the RECOVER command. I can download the file but my work comp does not have a .rar extractor... Quote
nestly Posted December 13, 2010 Posted December 13, 2010 Are you back in business yet, Hacheb? I downloaded the file and had the same problem you described, which is nothing, including my crosshairs is visible in ModelSpace. If you create a viewport in your layout, you'll be able to see your model again, but I was unsuccessful using either AUDIT or WBLOCK to fix it. What did seem to work was copying everything in the Paperspace viewport (using CopyClip) into a new blank drawing. Quote
