kippax Posted December 21, 2010 Posted December 21, 2010 I have a clients 3D drawing and have been working away in "Top View". Experiencing a number of problems indicating our products positions on the drawing (this only requires a 2D symbol, not an object). First of all, when I need to move the symbols by a specific distance, all the distances are indicated relative to the point I select on the 3D object (beneath) and not simply in a horizontal plane as I require. Secondly, having now looked at the building in elevation all my inserted symbols are a various heights throughout the drawing. I can select all these objects as a group as they are all on an independant layer, but how do I then put them all at the same height ? Rarely have need to use 3D, hence my confusion. Quote
ReMark Posted December 21, 2010 Posted December 21, 2010 Isolate the layer with all your symbols on it. Type CHANGE at the command line. Select all your symbols. Type P (for Properties). Type E (for Elevation). Enter the elevation that you require. Press Enter. Done. All your symbols should be at the correct elevation. When you put the symbols in what view were you using? Quote
kippax Posted December 21, 2010 Author Posted December 21, 2010 Tried that and unfortunately its not doing the trick. I'm working in "Top View", and have also tried that in "Front View", but it tells me P= PAN ?? Quote
ReMark Posted December 21, 2010 Posted December 21, 2010 Tried the Change command and it didn't work? That's odd. I tried it (using AC 2010) with a symbol in a 3D drawing and it worked just fine. Unless you know for a fact that your "Z" is at a particular elevation I wouldn't recommend placing anything in a 3D drawing using a plan view. I typically work in an isometric view so I can actually see where objects are being placed elevation-wise. Make sure your UCS is oriented correctly then try changing the elevation on just one of your symbols. What happens? Quote
kippax Posted December 21, 2010 Author Posted December 21, 2010 Brilliant..... !!!! its was the UCS, incorrectly set. Changed to World and worked just as you suggested. TVM Quote
