Making a polygon from above

Hi. This is my first time here and I dont know if this is the right place to post this but I hope it is.

I am wondering how can I create a polygon (lets say 20sides) in autocad knowing the polygon sides and length( from drawing a random one) I knowing the angles that the sides will make.

It is almost like the roof of a house. Flat bottom, then the sides go up to make this polygon. Hope I was helpful explaining my question. Ill await for responses. Thanks alot guys!

I know that when doing it on paper you set a height ( like 2cm) then with the angles ( in this case 40º 60º 70º) you see how much length it will be. Ill draw it so you can see what I mean, not very good at explaining ehehgeo.jpg

You do that in all the sides so that you can see which intersects with what to get the polygon.

I would like to help but just not sure what you are trying to do. Maybe set Polar to work relative to last point. Or draw a line and rotate it, or change your UCS for each line.

Ill try to explain in another way. Lets say you make a 2d flat shape. This shape has 20sides. Now, you want to make that shape rise upwards like a piramid what a flat bottom (4sides, this polygon will have 20). You also know the angles that each of the sides will make with the base.

Is there anyway to do this on autocad? Im pretty sure there is but I have no clue.

2011 has a pyramid command, have you tried that?

If you want to bring your shape to a point like a pyramid, you can extrude with a taper angle. Check the help files under "extrude command" for how-to.
