funkynugget Posted January 5, 2011 Posted January 5, 2011 I cannot find the fonts folder for AutoCAD for Mac and I need to install our offices custom .shx fonts. Anyone out there working on AutoCAD for Mac?? Quote
ReMark Posted January 5, 2011 Posted January 5, 2011 Is there a command line in AutoCAD for Mac? If so type the following then press the Enter key. (findfile"simplex.shx") It will return the path to the fonts folder. Quote
funkynugget Posted January 6, 2011 Author Posted January 6, 2011 Unfortunately a bunch of the commands in the Mac version are different. Yes there is a command line, and lots of important things work (like my custom pgp file) but other things are different - for example 'config' is an unknown command, you have to put in 'options' or 'preferences'. 'findfile' doesn't work.... Quote
Jack_O'neill Posted January 6, 2011 Posted January 6, 2011 Nestly posted this link in another thread. It's a list of stuff that the Mac version doesn't do. Might look to see if what you are looking for is on that list. http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/ps/dl/item?siteID=123112&id=15833488&linkID=15839490 Quote
funkynugget Posted January 6, 2011 Author Posted January 6, 2011 Thanks, I'd been through that list and there is nothing about fonts, text, type, shx, etc.... Quote
ReMark Posted January 6, 2011 Posted January 6, 2011 Did you type it exactly as I had written it with the paranthesis and quotes? Quote

Anyone out there working on AutoCAD for Mac?? Is there an AutoCAD folder under Applications? What about the main OSX Fonts folder, does it pull from there? Quote
HAWDesigner Posted January 6, 2011 Posted January 6, 2011 I cannot find the fonts folder for AutoCAD for Mac and I need to install our offices custom .shx fonts. Anyone out there working on AutoCAD for Mac?? Sorry I'm not too familiar with Mac, but is the fonts folder not listed in the Support File Search Path? In Windows the AutoCAD fonts can be found in "C:\Program Files\AutoCAD 2009\fonts". With the little knowledge I have of Mac, I would guess the Mac equivalent would be "/Applications/AutoCAD 2011/fonts". Quote
ReMark Posted January 6, 2011 Posted January 6, 2011 Using the findfile method returns the full path in AutoCAD on a PC. I was hoping the OP could use the same method on his Mac. Quote
funkynugget Posted January 6, 2011 Author Posted January 6, 2011 Hi everyone, and thanks all for your help. @ReMark: Yes, I did exactly match your text input, and i also attempted simplifying and alternate possible commands to see if, like the 'config' command being different, the 'findfile' would be different. No luck. @HAWDesigner & f700es - It is similar but different on the mac - the support files can be mapped as on a PC (and I have done so to get our drawing template, save location, pgp files, etc), but there is not a fonts folder, and there are multiple locations AutoDesk locates files - the computer library and the user library as well as the applications folder. Generally the furthest down the file string you get is 'support'. There are hidden folders that I can't access. In fact, in the applications folder it goes no deeper than the AutoCAD application itself, but in the file path menu there are folders shown deeper than the app. I'll ask a Mac guru how to get to hidden files... HAWDesigner Posted January 6, 2011 Posted January 6, 2011 You're welcome! May I suggest you try something else? 1. Search for the files you want (Mac should hopefully provide you with the folders that they are in). 2. Then add each folder you've found to the "Support Files Search Path" in your Options dialog. This way, whenever AutoCAD starts, it will include those paths you've added and you won't have to go through this again. Good Luck!! Quote
funkynugget Posted January 6, 2011 Author Posted January 6, 2011 Thanks, I've tried that (Apple has the best indexed search I've ever seen) but right now I am up against Mac not showing the hidden files, which for some reason AutoDesk has decided includes things like fonts. So I'm learning from the Apple guru how to access those files.... Quote
