BigMikeLV
the line type isn't uniform. I need to know how to do, for example: with a Pline I can: PE>ltype gen>on How do I do this with AECC_CONTOURS?
BOB'27T
Have you tried going to surface properties, then edit the surface style?
BigMikeLV
Have you tried going to surface properties' date=' then edit the surface style?[/quote']There isn't a surface yet. I got these contours from a consultant and I really can't set up the surface yet because we are trying to Back-convert for survey.
BOB'27T
I see. Is it possible to explode them into 2d polylines, then add them as breaklines to create the surface? I've had pretty good luck with that in the past.

But I guess breaking it all down to basics is probly the best thing to do.
rustysilo
I've not heard much good about using aecc contours as surface data, but you could try to add them as contour data to a surface or like bob says, explode them. If you have the original Land Desktop files (including all data folders) you could try the "import data from land desktop" function. Ultimately, it's best to not use contours for surface data, but sometimes we have to.
rustysilo
Even better, ask your consultant to export the surface to landxml and import that.
BigMikeLV
Even better, ask your consultant to export the surface to landxml and import that. haha Thats funny... anyways... I'll just explode them to PLines and then I'll create my surface later on. Thanks all!
rustysilo
Why funny?
BigMikeLV
We were lucky to get what we got. Sorry you don't know the LVVWD/Consultant love affair.
rustysilo
Sometimes people are so stingy with their data. You should ask for it anyway and if they say no simply inquire why. I'd say they either have a misunderstanding of how the software is supposed to be used in regards to exchanging data OR they don't trust their own work. BigMikeLV
they didnt have to give us this data... no contract agreement. we just had a rush job and foudnd out that they were doing work in the area. I can't ask for anything on this one. It had to be Director (LVVWD) to Owner (Eng Firm) talk. No money involved... they arent even supposed to give us what they gave us. no biggy. their Project and our project are 2 toatlly different things. We just need their aeral survey so we could get out drawings started. If I asked for more... it would take way too long.
rustysilo
Ah one of those situations. Even still, doesn't hurt to call and plea for help to make your job easier when possible. You never know when you'll come across a nice person.
