Hi,

Have already got a copy of AutoCAD 2010 and was beginning to look at AutoCAD Engineering 2010, but wanted to know what is the major difference in terms of engineering drawings and its ability to produce 2d and 3d for CNC engineering relative to the standard AutoCAD.

Any opinions?

Thanks

I'd say you'd be better off with Inventor.

..........and Inventor includes AutoCAD Mechanical and vanilla AutoCAD for free if you want to use old technology as well as new. Might as well go with 2011 version.

Students can get Inventor Professional for free from http://www.autodesk.com/edcommunity

Name an AutoDesk product that isn't a bit pricey. There's a challenge for you.

Where do I sign up to work with those industries!? :)

What's free today expect to get charged for it tomorrow. AutoDesk is like American Airlines. If they can make you pay for it they will.

Its not all its cracked up to be. Some of the parts are really cool I get to see and do paperwork on, one time I did go to a williams F1 testing day to see the cars at silverstone, but that the height of it. Mostly its paperwork, client meetings and logistics.. But its still cool to work on the parts...
