Honda Matt Posted February 2, 2011 Posted February 2, 2011 My hardrive crashed and now when i open a drawing half the text is wrong style. How do I stop this from happening. All the files where saved to a sever and when they are opened on another computer the text is fine. It like my Auto Cad is over riding the text properties and chagning them on my computer. Quote
tzframpton Posted February 2, 2011 Posted February 2, 2011 Does the new computer have all the fonts installed that the previous computer had? Quote
Honda Matt Posted February 2, 2011 Author Posted February 2, 2011 Yes. Some of the text is the correct font/style but most is not. Quote
tzframpton Posted February 2, 2011 Posted February 2, 2011 Hmm, weird. I've never seen that issue unless something literally went wrong with the CAD file itself, but that was located on the server right? Have you tried to run the RECOVER command on the file? Quote
Honda Matt Posted February 2, 2011 Author Posted February 2, 2011 recover won't work. I had to reinstall everything and start from scratch. When a drawing is opened on another computer nothing is wrong. I don't think its the drawing I have a feeling is a setting in autocad that i need to change. Quote
tzframpton Posted February 2, 2011 Posted February 2, 2011 So when you check each Text Style in the drawing, it is verified that every single style does show the font to be installed and in use? Quote
Honda Matt Posted February 2, 2011 Author Posted February 2, 2011 The text that is wrong comes up as Acab Text style with the font of Technical, but should be font Stylus BT. I can go through the drawing a change each font to the Stylus BT. They are saved with that style Acab Text font Stylus BT and when opened the change to Technical and the size seems to change also. tzframpton Posted February 2, 2011 Posted February 2, 2011 Hmm, weird indeed. I've never ran across such a problem so that's why it's hard for me to diagnose. Anytime a font style hasn't worked it's always been a font file that is not used by AutoCAD. Quote
Honda Matt Posted February 2, 2011 Author Posted February 2, 2011 is there a setting that can be switched to use a files existing parameters. Quote
Honda Matt Posted February 2, 2011 Author Posted February 2, 2011 in the options dialog box under open & save tab. whats the Object load ObjectARX apps: & Proxy images for custom objects: for? Quote
ReMark Posted February 2, 2011 Posted February 2, 2011 So this really isn't about the hard drive crash per se but more about a wrong text style now displays right? Can't you just do a global text style change? Quote
Honda Matt Posted February 2, 2011 Author Posted February 2, 2011 i can try that but the style is the correct style just the font is incorrect. and its like this on every drawing I open. I opened a drawing and did a file save as and opened it on a different computer and everything was correct on the other computer. When a print from my computer it print with the wrong font. I don't want to do through each drawings and change every font that is showing incorrectly. I would like it to open the way its been saved and opens correctly on other computers Quote
ReMark Posted February 2, 2011 Posted February 2, 2011 Using the Style command find out what the Font name and Font style is for each of the two fonts and post them here. Quote
Honda Matt Posted February 2, 2011 Author Posted February 2, 2011 Incorrect: Text Style: Acab Text, Font Name: Technical Correct: Text Style: Acab Text, Font Name: Stylus BT There is only on Text Style that we use and its Acab Text witht he font of Stylus BT Quote
tzframpton Posted February 2, 2011 Posted February 2, 2011 http://font.downloadatoz.com/download,6176,stylus-bt-font-for-windows.html Then download/install Stylus BT and see if it yields better results. Quote
ccowgill Posted February 2, 2011 Posted February 2, 2011 I'm using dialup, so I dont have a lot of patience to read everything in detail, so forgive me if this has already been suggested. Is it possible that the proper style was not on the new harddrive, so the fontalt kicked in, and now that the proper font is installed, the fontalt still is substituting the incorrect font? if so, open the fontalt file and remove the substitution. otherwise, I have never heard of the textstyle being changed (other than by some other programming) automatically. ReMark Posted February 2, 2011 Posted February 2, 2011 Maybe I'm wrong but isn't it simply a matter of changing the font name from Technical to Stylus BT in the Style dialog box? Quote
ReMark Posted February 2, 2011 Posted February 2, 2011 Isn't the default for FONTALT actually simplex.shx? Unless someone purposely went and changed it in the first place. Quote
Honda Matt Posted February 2, 2011 Author Posted February 2, 2011 How do i switch to so it uses what the drawing has setup. All the fonts that have been used in the past are Auto CAD standard fonts. nothing was ever inported. I just what to ba able to open any of our drawings and have the text read correctly. The font style has changed from year to year depending on who was the drafter at that time. just starting to setup standards for this point forward and want to be able to open older drawings and print if needed. ReMark Posted February 2, 2011 Posted February 2, 2011 How do i switch to technic font I thought that was the "bad" font? Quote
