adrian23 Posted February 26, 2011 Posted February 26, 2011 Hello there i need help with a 2d drawing , here's the picture of what i want to draw . ( i dont know how to do that arcs.. ) Quote
ReMark Posted February 26, 2011 Posted February 26, 2011 You can draw a full circle then trim it to create the arcs. Fairly simple and straight-forward procedure even for someone new to AutoCAD. In the future please consider making your thread title more descriptive. When I saw "Help Please!" I thought maybe your dog fell in the well and you needed someone to help you rescue it. Something like "Help with creating arcs" would have been much more informative don't you think? Quote
JD Mather Posted February 26, 2011 Posted February 26, 2011 There are a lot of arcs. Which ones are you having trouble with? Can you attach what you have completed so far? I would probably use circles TTR and trim. Quote
ReMark Posted February 26, 2011 Posted February 26, 2011 Maybe you should have started with something a bit more simple so you could get familiar with the various drawing and modifying commands. Quote
adrian23 Posted February 26, 2011 Author Posted February 26, 2011 yes.....but i need that at school...so i have no choice Quote
ReMark Posted February 26, 2011 Posted February 26, 2011 Didn't the teacher cover the use of arcs? Have far have you progressed with your drawing since we last communicated? Did you try JDM's suggestion of using the TTR (tangent-tangent-radius) option of the Circle command? Quote
JD Mather Posted February 26, 2011 Posted February 26, 2011 Usually instruction is given on something more basic so that the construction of arcs are understood. Rather than a picture - can you attach a dwg here of what you have completed? Quote
adrian23 Posted February 26, 2011 Author Posted February 26, 2011 .... i am not so noob , but i cant fit that arcs to the required dimensions....i did try with circles and then trim...and with arc Quote
ReMark Posted February 26, 2011 Posted February 26, 2011 Well JDM has made a request for you to attach your drawing so he can take a look at it. If I were you I would definitely take the suggestion to heart and attach your drawing A.S.A.P. Quote

ReMark Posted February 26, 2011 Posted February 26, 2011 http://www.2shared.com/photo/GN5G_FM_/64_online.html here's the dwg file How about if you just attach it to a post here at CADTutor? It would be so much better. Quote
JD Mather Posted February 26, 2011 Posted February 26, 2011 This is why I always request a file from beginners. Your part is not trimmed correctly resulting in incorrect dimension for the 14mm. Now on to the rest of the problem.... Quote
adrian23 Posted February 26, 2011 Author Posted February 26, 2011 huh? ok.....i forgot to trim that ....but is not that the problem.... Quote
adrian23 Posted February 26, 2011 Author Posted February 26, 2011 what i cant draw...is this ( what i paint with red ) Quote
JD Mather Posted February 26, 2011 Posted February 26, 2011 Poor quality work is always a problem. In my experience those who don't make these beginner mistakes also recognize the mistakes by others (the drawing is obviously wrong). There is a obvious mistake in the drawing. The 59 dimension cannot possibly be 59 and also be tangent (by appearance) to the Ø55 shaft. Assume it is actually 55 and all is well (see attached image). Quote
JD Mather Posted February 26, 2011 Posted February 26, 2011 Also note that it appears that the splines (but not sure from your image) were incorrectly shown on the smaller diameter in the end view. Quote
adrian23 Posted February 26, 2011 Author Posted February 26, 2011 one more question...how you did this arcs? (red painted ) what command did you use ? i cant fit it...or better if you can attach the dwg file.... and yeah is not first time when we get wrong drawings... thanks Quote
JD Mather Posted February 26, 2011 Posted February 26, 2011 The R8, 5 and 1 are simply Fillets. The R5 is tangent tangent radius. Offset the 55/2 from vertical center. Offset the 19/2 from horizontal center. Then circle ttr to the two offset lines. Trim it up. I would be learning a modern next-generation CAD program for something like this rather than an antiquated 25+ year old program like AutoCAD. Prepare for the future. If I get a chance I'll post a video on Monday if someone doesn't beat me to it. I'll bet you get it figured out before then. Quote
