I am trying to import a shape file contains a lot of points with elevations, after I inserted them, they stays on a same horizontal plain. Checked property, still got the elevation value, but Z value is shown as 0. How do I position all points at the right Z level/elevation?

Also, anyone knows how to import large amount of raster images (prj&ecw) into autocad at one time, without importing them 1by1?

Im using Autocad/civic 3d 2011

I have been told to run a query on the data and alter the properties to position all the points on the right elevation, anyone knows how to do it?

:: ECW ::

Here's something I wrote a while back:

How to Insert an ‘ECW’ Image:

  • Using AutoCAD Civil 3D Land Desktop Companion 2009 Enabled Map
    • From the CREATE menu, select Insert an Image…, or enter the ._MAPIINSERT command at the command line
      • If you do not have the CREATE menu displayed:
        • From the CUI EDITOR (._CUI command), select your workspace, and click Customize Workspace
        • Navigate to the MAP3DDRAWING Partial CUI, and check the box next to the Create menu, from the MENUS node
        • Click DONE
        • SAVE your settings, and APPLY your changes
        • Click OK to return to your drawing

      [*]With the ECW file extension selected in the Files of type field

      • Navigate to the desired directory
      • Select the images you want to insert
      • Click the Open button

Note - Be mindful of the insertion units of your drawing, in some cases when inserting several images at once, one may have to scale the images (from the origin 0,0,0) by a factor of 1/12, whereas when inserting a single image, one is presented with an Image Correlation dialog.

:: Elevation Query ::

Once you've imported the shape file data into a drawing, within the Define Query dialog and attached to the source drawing, select the Alter Properties button, then select the Elevation radio button. Add that expression to your query, and run.

Hope this helps!

I tried attaching .ecw images, works perfect.

For the elevation thing, where do I find the define query dialog?

Either from the Map menu >> Define Query, or use the ._ADEQUERY command.
