Sampling from alignment Trouble

Hello,

I drew an alignment out of lines and arcs. Then I defined it from Alignments > Define from objects.

Next I did the following steps:

Profiles> Surfaces > Set current Surface

Profiles>Existing Ground>Sample From Surface

At that point I see written in the command prompt "Group: ROAD 2 Section: 1546.106434" The alignment is 1689.974. What might be making autocad stop at 1546 ?

I even tried to draw 2 simple lines connected and do the steps, I always get the same message with a distance smaller than the length of the alignment.

I should mention that I successfully defined an alignment and cross section and was able to get a volume table on this same project. When starting to do the same for a second alignment I got this problem.

One possibility is that the surface ends before the alignment does. In other words, the alignment extends beyond the border of the surface. You can't sample data if there's nothing there to sample.

No that can't be it. The alignment is far away from the limits of the surface. Would uploading the .dwg file of the project be of any help in identifying the problem? or do I need to upload the whole project directory ?

Edit: Here's the dwg file dl.dropbox.com/u/18841298/Project.dwg

I copied the dwg file from the project folder to my desktop. For some reason when I did that everything worked fine. I had to re-enter some settings (sampling increments) so I think by moving the file from the project folder some settings are lost. And I'm guessing one of those settings was the cause of my trouble.

I had some time this morning and tried to re-create the problem. My profile length matched the alignment length. Not sure why moving the file would change anything, but if it works, it works.
