keating Posted April 29, 2011 Posted April 29, 2011 In using external references, is a connection maintained between the child drawing and the parent drawing? When the parent drawing file, being used as an xref is modified, do you see the changes appear in real time in the child? Quote
Jack_O'neill Posted April 29, 2011 Posted April 29, 2011 I don't use x-refs a lot but as I understand it if you have drawing "a" open, and it has "b" xreffed into it and someone changes "b" you will get a notification that it has changed and needs to be reloaded. You can leave it as is, or reload and see the changes. If you don't reload then, it will update the next time you open "a". Quote
keating Posted April 30, 2011 Author Posted April 30, 2011 Thank you so much for taking the time to reply. You are right Jack- thanks. JD-Trying it would require understanding who the parent and who the child, etc. is! I've been struggling with the xref stuff, but thanks again for pushing me- I applied what you both said and then... asked my teacher! This is the first time I've come to this site and I have found more answers in one day than I have on Autodesk help all semester. Thanks again- I'll definitely be back. Quote
